About the Manitoba Provincial Bowl

Manitoba Association for Rights and Liberties and the Centre for Professional and Applied Ethics at the University of Manitoba are launching our 10th High School Ethics Bowl. During the last nine years we have witnessed phenomenal change in our teams level of preparedness and depth of their discussions. They genuinely enjoy the competition due to it’s collaborative nature and the new friendships they make across our province. The teams also enjoy entering a university setting many for the first time.

The unexpected surprise was the number of former participants, who are now in colleges or universities, who are now volunteering, not only in Manitoba, but in other provinces. They have stated that the Ethics Bowl was the best extracurricular activity of their high school experience. Many are now moderators and some have enough credentials and experience to be judges.

Our educational community and beyond are now aware of the power of the Ethics Bowl making it very easy to recruit volunteers. Many of them have walked away after the regionals or nationals inspired to continue volunteering.
