About the London Regional Competition
In an exciting joint effort, the department of philosophy and the faculty of law at Western University greatly look forward to hosting the 2023-2024 London regional.
A strong supporter of the ethics bowl for three years, Western University now looks forward to hosting their first in-person bowl on February 3rd. Western’s connection to the OEB runs deep as their very own Danielle Lacasse, Dean of Admissions and Recruitment for Western Faculty of Law, casted the decisive vote as head judge for the 2021 Ontario Ethics Bowl championship.
Western University, home to the discovery of insulin, is also, many would say, one of the most beautiful campuses in Ontario. European-inspired stone/brick buildings transport students, staff, and faculty back to a time where function came second to beauty.

Tournament Details
Let’s face it, every ethics bowler’s dream is to qualify for the national competition. In Ontario, the path to nationals is a winding journey. Every registered team automatically qualifies for a regional event. Regional qualifiers take place at OEB partner universities: Western, Guelph, McMaster, University of Toronto, Toronto Metropolitan, Queens, and Carleton. A virtual qualifier is available to teams who cannot attend an in-person event.
The top 16 teams from the qualifiers will attend the Ontario Championship (OC), from which the top team will advance to the national finals.

The ethics bowl gives 100% when it comes to teacher and team support. At any point in during the season teachers/teams may schedule a one-on-one training session with an ethics bowl advisor who will answer their questions and help the group feel prepared for competition day. Teams may submit their arguments in advance of the competition to an ethics bowl professional to receive feedback and guidance. Lastly, and this is a doozy, teams may schedule practice matches with other schools to get the full ethics bowl experience before the actual competition. The ethics bowl will provide a moderator and tech support for practice every match.
All of the above is included in the price of registration.

"
The ethics bowl isn’t simply about helping students think abstractly about moral dilemmas, though that’s important. At its best, the bowl is really about enacting moments of personal and social transformation in the lives of actual, young people.
